Over the past decade, Michael has brought his extensive experience in crisis management and communications to small and large organizations locally and internationally.
Michael’s passion for helping organizations comes from a deeply personal experience that has both expanded his understanding of how to effectively manage through a crisis and shaped a unique and compassionate approach to crisis management. Having first-hand experience has also given Michael an appreciation for the emotional and psychological toll intense situations have on everyone involved. His true value comes through in providing reputation management, crisis auditing and real-time advice that helps leaders and organizations deal with the emotional effects of managing a crisis.
Michael has brought his exceptional experience in all aspects of communications to professional sports, gaming, politics, government, digital health technology and the charitable sector. He is most passionate about helping technology start-ups and small businesses, especially social enterprises wanting to make a bold statement.
He is a dedicated mental health advocate, a cancer survivor, has spoken at international conferences on reputation management and economics, provided weekly political communications commentary on the CBC and other major media outlets across Canada, worked with high profile clients in the U.S and Canada, instructed at the university level and worked with multiple stakeholder groups and industry associations on building strategies to inform government.
Michael holds degrees in Psychology (McMaster University), Bachelor of Public Relations (Mount Saint Vincent University - Highest Academic Standing in graduating class, Senate Award of Distinction), and is currently working toward his Professional Crisis Management certification through the Institute For Crisis Management. He lives in Halifax where his children are his joy and he dabbles in urban exploring and photography.
